The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources -9 has started rolling out the second batch of fuel subsidy, benefiting 390 fishermen in the city.
The beneficiaries received P3,000 fuel discount cards issued by the Universal Storefront Service Corportation (USSC) and redeemable at accredited gasoline stations.
In Zamboanga City, a total of 1,482 fisherfolk have benefited from the program with fuel assistance amounting to over P4M.
The fuel assistance to fisherfolks is in line with government’s commitment to extend financial support and economic relief to vulnerable members of the agriculture and fishery sectors.
Those qualified to receive the fuel subsidy are registered fisherfolks and are using registered and licensed motorized fishing boats with 3 gross tonnage and below. They must also be registered in the Fisherfolks Registry System (FishR) and Boat Registration System.
