Crops Harvested From ZCMC’s Urban Garden

Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) conducted it’s first harvest from its uban garden Tuesday inside the hospital premises.

Urban gardening was initiated by ZCMC Chief of Hospital Dr. Afdal Kunting together with Kids Who Farm and the Dietary Staff of ZCMC.

Harvested were several pechay and lettuce. Some patients were given pechay while the lettuce were sold to the staff for revolving funds.

Other crops planted were eggplant, okra, tomatoes, tanglad, kangkong, and sili.

Kunting said, “The goal is to have sustainable food source for the patients and employees.”

These are being maintained by the hospital dietary section and gardeners. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
