A COVID booster shot is not recommended at this time, the City Health Office reiterated.
City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said there are no guidelines or advisories for the issuance of a third shot, and that the national government at this time is not allowing COVID booster shots, pending conclusive studies on the matter.
“As per DOH Advisory 72, the administration of additional doses or the booster doses on top of the recommended dose series of a COVID-19 vaccine is not allowed pending availability of sufficient and conclusive studies,” said Dr. Miravite Tuesday, August 31, in a virtual presser.
At present, two shots of the COVID vaccine is the recommended protocol. The Janssen brand requires only a single dose as it is a one-shot vaccine.
According to Dr. Miravite, a total of 216,677 individuals have received the COVID vaccine, out of which 124,271 or 17.7% of the target population received their first dose.
Meanwhile, 92,406 individuals or 13.2% of the target population have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated. (Jasmine Mohammadsali)
