Local authorities have prevented 10 Korean fishermen to disembark from two foreign fishing vessels that recently arrived here amid the 2019 novel Coronavirus scare.
Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer claimed, the 10 Koreans were classified as persons under monitoring (PUM) as they have been to a country with positive 2019 Covid case.
Mirative said, the Korean fishermen were placed under a 14-day quarantine period.
“Since they have travel history from a country with confirmed case, so we are monitoring them,” Miravite said. She declined to reveal the point of origin of the two fishing vessel as well as their purpose in coming to this city.
Local officials said the two vessels arrived here on Sunday, February 8, 2020 and was supposed to dock at the port of one of the local fishing firms but was advised to remain offshore.
Miravite said the two fishing vessels are currently anchored several meters away from the shore of Barangay Recodo, west of this city.
She said, they are continuously monitoring the Korean fishermen, who did not come into contact with any of the local fishing firm personnel, as they remain vigilant to prevent the entry of the 2019 novel Coronavirus in this southern port city.
