City government of Iriga receives Seal of Good Local Governance Award

    The City Government of Iriga has yet achieved another national award, the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs in the delivery of public service through compliance to pertinent national laws and guidelines.

    Mayor Rex C. Oliva together with DILG LGOO VI Sheela M. Medina and Acting PIO Ailyn Alferez received the SGLG award on Wednesday, December 13 at Manila Hotel, given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

    According to Mayor Rex, receiving the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence in public service.

    He said, “During the national validation, I was confident that with the performance of the officials and employees of the city, we will be able to satisfy the requirements of all the indicators. This is now the culmination of the many processes that the City Government has undergone.”

    This prestigious award reflects the dedication and hard work of the city government employees and officials. This is a collective effort, and I share this award with every member of the City Government of Iriga. I am truly honored and grateful for this recognition.

    Mayor Rex also extends his appreciation to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for acknowledging our city’s efforts.

    In an interview with DILG LGOO VI Sheela Medina, she said, “The City Government of Iriga is one of the LGUs in the Bicol Region who has been a consistent SGLG awardee from 2018 up to 2023. This recognition awarded to the city is one of the manifestations that truly its local officials is complying to their mandate in serving its constituents by providing local governance at its best. The city is still up to the challenge of getting this prestigious award by continuously implementing plans and programs to alleviate the welfare of all Iriguenos and overall development and progress of Iriga City.

    The City received SGLG National Award in 2018, 2019, 2021 and this year, 2022.

    According to the DILG, out of the 1,715 local government units that were assessed, 28 provinces, 64 cities, and 401 municipalities in the country passed the 2023 SGLG criteria.
