Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos spearheaded the distribution of more than P 13 million worth of crisis assistance to Ilokano communities on March 13, reaching 4,000 beneficiaries.
Across the municipalities of Nueva Era, Banna, Marcos, and Solsona, barangay officials, health workers, child development workers, and community peace officers each received cash aid amounting to P 4,000 and food packs.
The “Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte Caravan” also extended support to vulnerable sectors, providing food packs for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, complete grocery packages and poultry products for vulnerable families, school supplies and snacks for preschoolers, fuel subsidies worth P 3,000 for farmers, and assorted medicines for barangays.
Members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations in Dingras and Sarrat likewise benefited from the program, receiving P 2,500 fuel subsidies along with grocery packs.
The distribution was carried out in coordination with the Office of Barangay Affairs, Sustainable Development Center, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Treasury Office, Provincial Health Office, and the Metro Ilocos Norte Council.
In her message, Governor Araneta-Marcos underscored the importance of cushioning the impact of rising prices and global instability:
“Ito po ang handog namin sa inyo. Hindi natin alam na magkakaroon ng giyera, kaya mayroon tayong ayuda para sa inyo. Magpasalamat po tayo sa ating Panginoon.”
She urged beneficiaries to use the assistance wisely, prioritizing essential needs as Ilocos Norte continues to navigate the challenges posed by international developments and their effects on local livelihoods.
