Basilan remains unbeaten after victory over Pagadian City

Jumbo Plastic-Basilan stamped its class over Pagadian City, 94-70,  to remain unbeaten in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup on Thursday at the City Gymnasium in Zamboanga del Sur.

Michael Mabulac had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds all in only 18 minutes of play to lead the Peace Riders’ charge.

Twelve of the 13 players fielded in the first half scored—with Mabulac scattering 10—as Basilan took a 54-37 lead at the break.

The Peace Riders outscored their opponents, 20-8 in the third quarter for a commanding 74-45 lead entering the final period.

Basilan’s lead ballooned to 35 on Stephen Siruma’s triple to cruise to their fourth straight win and shadow frontr-unning Clarin (5-0).

Team captain Jonathan Uyloan tallied 16 points on four triples he laced with three assists and three steals for the Peace Riders. Jay Collado and Michael Juico chipped in 10 points apiece.

Christian Manalo paced Pagadian City with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. Rich Guinitaran got 13 points, but only had nine shots. 

Team leader Mark Benitez was also defended well and wound up with only two points on a poor 1-of-9 clip. He had seven rebounds.

Paolo Bautista hit the showers early after incurring a flagrant foul 2 at the 1:15 mark of the third period.

The Explorers, after starting the tilt 3-0, slid to 4-3, at third place.
