Baguio: At Least 4 People Were Killed In Baguio, Benguet Landslide

At least 4 people were killed after several homes were crushed by landslides triggered by heavy rains at the height of Severe Tropical Storm “Maring” Monday evening in Baguio and Benguet.

Authorities said the victims were siblings 2-, 6-, and 8-year-old residents of Barangay Ambiong in La Trinidad, Benguet and an adult male from Barangay Dominican-Mirador  in Baguio city.

Officials from La Trinidad said that the Teligo family was having dinner inside their house when the landslide occurred.

Rescuers were able to rescue the family but the siblings were not able to make it.

In Baguio City, the body of an adult male, one of the three trapped and missing in the landslide that buried a house at Marosan Alley, Dominican-Mirador barangay has been retrieved at 11:37 AM today, according to the CDRRMO.

Rescuers continue to search the two more missing persons, both children.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Baguio Synoptic Station recorded 625.3 mm amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours (October 11 to 12 at 08:00 AM) in Baguio City / Benguet area.
