Lacson, however, said he will consult first with the mayors on plans to lift the curfew.

The 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew was implemented at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Negros Occidental.

Lacson said that some businessmen have aired proposals to lift the curfew since the number of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental has already reached single digits.

The Provincial Incident Management Team reported that it recorded nine COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental as of May 22.

Lacson said that the implementation of curfew hours also helped in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

“I believe every measure we took contributed to where we are right now,” he stressed.

Negros Occidental remains under Alert Level 2, although seven of its local government units are under Alert Level 1.
