BACOLOD CITY – The Alliance of Consumers in Northern Negros (ACNN) elected its officers for 2026 -2027 in Bacolod City.
ACNN was formed on February 14, in response to the projected power supply shortage in Visayas, including Negros Island Region (NIR), as announced by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
ACNN aims to address the inefficiencies in NONECO’s services and inadequate power supply through consumer consultations and dialogue with management. The alliance is open to the proposed partnership between Negros Power and NONECO, which seeks to rehabilitate and upgrade NONECO’s infrastructure, enhancing performance and services.
With assistance from ACCESS and Power Watch Negros Advocates, ACNN will conduct a Consumer Education and Awareness Program (CEAP) to empower consumers and strengthen their participation in NONECO’s decision-making process, particularly in
partnership with Negros Power. This initiative seeks to promote transparency, accountability, and consumer-centric governance in the power sector.
Elected president was Pastor Efraim Tapang, vice president – Pastor Juralden Enerez, secretary – Jean Lopez, treasurer – Pastor Israel Bais, press relation officer – Pastor Joel Trinidad, and board of directors – Pastor Paquito Montilla, Pastor Rejoy Palara, Jonel Despares, Niel Tingson.
