BACOLOD CITY – Two weeks before the May 18 deadline for registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the Commission on Elections – Negros Island Region has recorded 206,042 new voter applicants across the region, as of May 2.
Negros Occidental remains having the most number of registrants at 141,714; Negros Oriental at 60,487, while there are 3,841 new registered voters in Siquijor, Comelec records show.
The Comelec Register Anywhere Program was availed by 1,186 new voters. It is a program designed by Comelec for new voters to register outside of their communities.
The 2026 BSKE is scheduled for November 2 this year, with filing of Certificates of Candidacy starting on September 28, until October 5.
