The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the City Health Office (CHO) have placed the Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freeport Authority in San Ramon, Talisayan under 7-day lockdown effective September 22.

The order was issued after 2 employees of the government agency were tested positive of COVID-19.

CDRRMO Head, Dr. Elmeir Apolinario said the temporary lockdown will pave the way for disinfection and decontamination of the Ecozone administration building and entire complex by CDRRMO personnel while the CHO will conduct contact tracing activities.

At the same time, the lockdown period will enable the Ecozone administration to revisit its COVID-19 protocols in place.

Apolinario also encouraged Ecozone Administrator, Raul Regondola to send Ecozone employees, particularly those with direct exposure with COVID-19 positive patients, for testing to be undertaken by the CHO.

The CDRRMO likewise directed the establishment of a buffer zone area with a 24/7 security and stressed that access to the Ecozone complex will be permitted only by the Zamboanga City Task Force Covid-19, through the CDRRMO.

Any employee who will manifest symptoms is advised to immediately inform the local Task Force Covid-19.

Resumption of operation of the Ecozone will only be upon the instruction of the Task Force Covid-19.

Apolinario emphasized that the lockdown measure is imposed primarily for the protection and welfare of the employees, their families, the locators and the general public.
