The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) meets representatives of various malls and supermarkets Monday morning to reiterate the implementation of Executive Order 453-2019 banning the use of plastic shopping bags in the city every Saturday and Sunday.
This is in line with the City Government’s commitment to environmental protection stressing that single-use plastic shopping nags are a significant source of environmental pollution.
Raymond Padayhag, Public Service Officer under OCENR and concurrent OIC Assistant City Administrator enjoined business establishment owners and managers in the commercial market and residential areas, as well as ambulant vendors and the like to stop dispensing non-biodegradable plastic sando bags as bagging materials during Saturdays and Sundays, pursuant to EO 453.
The meeting discussed ways on how to strictly implement the EO to help save the environment.
