Zamboanga City Has 14K Unenrolled Students In Public Schools

The Department of Education (DepEd) Zamboanga City Schools Division has revealed, there are still 14,000 unenrolled students in the different public schools in Zamboanga City.

Roy C. Tuballa, OIC Schools Division Superintendent told RPN DXXX, they are expecting the remaining 8 percent to enroll before November close.

“The trend now is increasing, we will attain 100 percent by the close of November,” Tuballa said.

Currently, 206,202 school children were already enrolled which is 92 percent. Of the 206,202 enrolled for kindergarten 13,547, elementary 105,001, junior high school 67,328, and senior high school 20,326.

He explained, when neighbors get the modules for their children, others also go to the school and also wanted to get the module for their children. However, they were instructed to enroll first.

The others already got their modules while others are still waiting for their modules to be printed.

“This is a good sign that education will continue despite the pandemic,” the schools divisions superintendent said.

On the modalities of teaching, online will be used, modules, television and radio instruction, mix online and module, and the house instruction.

DepEd Division of Zamboanga City is composed of Labuan district, Ayala, Sta Maria, Baliwasan, Central, Vitali, Curuan, Manicahan, Mercedes, Putik, Talon Talon, and Tetuan. The city have 172 public elementary schools and 41 public high schools with some 8,000 teachers. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
