Zamboanga City– Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco-Salazar has requested the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Region 9 Secretary Rolando Bautista to allow Zamboangueño employees of regional offices based in Pagadian City to work from home for a period of 14 days.

This, she said, is to limit the employees’ mobility to protect them and their families from Covid-19, especially during time when the covid cases in Zamboanga City continue to increase at a critical level.

The chief executive said the city government is willing to shoulder the expenses for the employee’s once-a-month RT-PCR testing in relation to the city’s “No Swab, No Entry” policy as mandated under Executive Order 651.

The National Inter-Agency Task Force has already responded to the said request, according to the mayor during her virtual press briefing last Monday. Climaco said fighting covid is not just the responsibility of the government and its partners in the private sector.

“It is a whole of government and a whole of society approach,” she stressed.

As of April 26, Zamboanga City’s Covid-19 statistics has reached 5,989 with 4,408 recoveries and 224 deaths, leaving an alarming total of 1,357 active cases.
