Zambo Mayor Calls DILG Expedite Release Of Salaries Of Contact Tracers

Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar has requested the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office to expedite the release of salaries of contact tracers deployed in Zamboanga City.

The request of the mayor was made to DILG Regional Director Paisal Abutazail during the Regional Peace and Order Council virtual meeting.

The mayor during her virtual press briefing Friday claimed “Director Abutazil sought for understanding because they have to process over 3,000 documents (for the salaries)”, of contact tracers deployed over the region.

All over the region there are over 3,000 contact tracers deployed to the different cities and provinces. Zamboanga City was allocated 656 contact tracers.

Climaco expressed gratitude to the contact tracers for their dedication in responding to the call of the time amidst the pandemic.

The contact tracers started their contract with DILG last October 1. The DILG nationwide hired contact tracers to help the local government units in tracing, testing and treatment of COVID-19 patients.
