Around 31,500 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines and 28,000 doses of Sinovac-Coronavac vaccines arrive in Zamboanga City Tuesday, June 15, as the government steps up vaccination rollout to achieve herd immunity the soonest possible time.

The 31,500 doses of Pfizer vaccines will be solely deployed to Zamboanga City and will cover the first and second doses of at least 17,500 individuals.

The Sinovac vaccines, however, will be distributed to the different municipalities and provinces in Zamboanga Peninsula.

DOH Assistant Regional Director Dr. Manolo Alpichi said Zamboanga City has been chosen as for the test run of Pfizer vaccines due to its capability to store the medicines, that requires storage in ultra-low freezers specifically minus 80 to minus 60 temperature.

From the airport, the Pfizer vaccines were transported to the ZCMC for storage, while awaiting for the arrival of specialized syringes.
