Thirty-Six (36) CTG Members Turned In To Authorities At Lake Sebu

Police Regional Office 12 – Thirty-six (36) CTG (CPP-NPA) members yielded to the authorities in one of the farthest barangays in the Province of South Cotabato in the morning of May 22, 2020.

A PTF-MTF ELCAC (Joint Provincial and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict) caravan at Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato led by HON. REYNALDO S. TAMAYO, Provincial Governor, PCOL JEMUEL F. SIASON, Provincial Director, Hon. FLORO S GANDAM JR, Municipal Mayor, PMAJ JOHNNY RICK F MEDEL, COP Lake Sebu MPS, 27IB Philippine Army led by Sgt. Azumo and other Provincial and Municipal employees was conducted on the said date wherein thirty-six (36) members of CTG’s (CPP/NPA) voluntarily surrendered along with their several high powered firearms.

Brgy Ned in Lake Sebu is bordered by the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani, and was isolated for years due to its geographical location which gave the CPP-NPA the chance to influence the said barangay of their communist ideology. The UGMOs provides logistical and political support, as well as a haven for the terrorist group. The locals had also witnessed on several occasions the atrocities perpetrated by the rebels as well as skirmishes between the group and the government forces.

Two (2) of the surrenderees expressed their adversities, exhaustion, and the recurring fear they had experienced as they disguise as ordinary citizens no matter how loyal they were to the leftist group. This led them to cut their allegiance with the rebels and promised that their efforts and their decision to surrender will not be put on waste.

Their surrender is the result of the long, continuous and intensive effort of South Cotabato Provincial Task Force End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC), wherein SCPPO under the helm of PCOL SIASON as Provincial Director plays a very vital role in the whole of nation approach to end CPP-NPA’s sowing of terror as embodied in Executive Order No. 70 signed by Pres. Rodrigo R. Duterte.

The surrenderees received initial monetary assistance and relief goods from the local government. They are also slated to receive a financial package thru the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

PBGEN MICHAEL JOHN DUBRIA, newly installed Regional Director of PRO 12, acclaimed the anti-terrorism campaigns of the preceding administration which sustains the safety and security of Region 12. Further, he enjoined the PRO 12 cops to continue play their imperative role in combating terrorism through community awareness as terrorism continues to pose serious threats to the country.
