Davao City –    Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 here has created the Metropolitan Davao Police Task Force (MDPTF) responsible for handling the inter-Local Government Unit (LGU) security threats within areas in Davao Region.

The Task Force has been activated  by the PRO 11 to serve as an interim unit in preparation for its eventual transition to Metropolitan Davao Police Office (MDPO)  that will cater to the needs of public concerns on peace and security, as well as traffic management within Region 11.

The MDPTF is composed of police units from Tagum City, Panabo City, Island Garden City of Samal, Municipality of Carmen, all in Davao Del Norte; Digos City, and Municipality of Sta. Cruz in Davao Del Sur, and Davao City.

These areas shall all be under the operational supervision of the Metropolitan Davao Development Authority (MDDA).

PRO 11 director Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal said the Task Force, headed by Deputy Regional Director for Operation Colonel Edgar Alan  Okubo shall assume operational control over the city and municipal police stations under the territorial jurisdiction of MDDA.

In her message, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that the establishment of the Task Force necessitates the need of an activation of a police force to ensure the  maintenance of peace and order that is integral to the development of the Metropolitan Davao area.
