The 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅, focusing on 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑬𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈, took place in Surigao City and Siargao Islands. The event brought together local food producers and industry experts to elevate the quality and marketability of local food products.

Rooted in the 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 (𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗣) initiative, the activity is part of a flagship program dedicated to celebrating and supporting the unique products of our local communities. Through OTOP, the goal is to amplify the strengths of MSMEs, paving the way for greater opportunities in both local and national markets.

The session featured 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻 and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗮-𝗟𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀, esteemed food technologists from Surigao Norte State University, who conducted one-on-one consultations with the participants. These personalized sessions offered critical feedback on sensory attributes, including taste, texture, aroma, and overall appeal, to help enhance product quality.

Additionally, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲, Consultant for Branding and Improvement of Packaging and Labelling, also engaged with each MSME to address specific needs in branding, labelling, and packaging. His expert guidance aimed to ensure MSMEs meet industry standards and improve their market appeal.

To support these efforts, participants will receive development kits and be featured on upcoming local trade fairs. This is part of a broader effort to equip local food producers in Surigao del Norte with the tools and knowledge needed for marketplace success. (Mark James Lisondra)
