SC justices support community pantries, donate 14 tons of vegetables

SUPREME Court  justices have expressed support to the organizers of community pantries, particularly in Metro Manila, by donating 14 tons of different vegetables using their personal money.

The donation was made as part of the Court’s 120th  anniversary to be celebrated today (June 11).

The initiative and the money  used to purchase the donations came from the pockets of the 14 incumbent magistrates.

“On the eve of the Supreme Court’s 120th anniversary, the 14 incumbent magistrates of the Supreme Court, using their personal resources and working collectively, purchased more than 14 tons of vegetables from farmers to be distributed to various community pantries,” the SC said. 

It added that some of the vegetables would be donated to the  indigent ward of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and the Manila Police District (MPD).

SC Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, Senior Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe, and Associate Justices Marvic Leonen, Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, Ramon Paul Hernando, Mario Lopez, Edgardo Delos Santos, and Jhosep Lopez were among those present at the SC to oversee the project. 

SC spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka said the Justices “were able to drop by at different times.”
