The Cordillera Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC), led by NEDA OIC-Regional Director Stephanie Christiansen, inspected two slope protection projects in Kennon Road last May 12, 2021. The two projects were reported to be substantially completed ahead of schedule thus these were selected by the RPMC to derive good practices for achieving positive slippages.
Construction Division OIC Assistant Chief Engr. Ismael Dela Cruz and Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division Chief Engr. Samuel Advincula of the DPWH-CAR along with the representative from the project contractor briefed the members of the RPMC on the two projects along Kennon Road. Major components of the slope protection project were installation of active wire mesh system, installation of permanent ground anchors, pouring of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP), and construction of reinforced concrete apron.
NEDA-CAR OIC Regional Director Stephanie Christiansen mentioned that the inspection done was unique in the sense that the project inspected shows positive outputs and good practices that can be adopted and be shared to other agencies.
The committee noted that the availability of materials, hiring of skilled workers and local residents who have significant experience with the same projects, and effective coordination with implementing agencies and local stakeholders like the barangays are great factors in making sure that projects implemented are delivered with quality and on time. The RPMC will also transmit recommendations to DILG-CAR particularly on the roles of the LGUs and barangays in project implementation, particularly in ensuring safety during construction.
The RPMC as a support committee of the Regional Development Council conducts government project monitoring or inspection in the region ensuring on-time implementation by facilitating the resolution of project issues.
