RPDEU 11-Talomo Police Seized Nearly 1M Worth Of Shabu From 2 Repeat Offenders; Shotgun Recovered

Two buddies who were once jailed for drug charges were arrested anew in two successive anti-illegal drugs operations conducted by the joint elements of RSOG- RPDEU XI and Talomo Police Station both headed by PLtCol Ronald Lao. Suspects were identified as: NAPOLEON ATIENZA CADAYONA JR., Alias “JONG-JONG”, 41 years old, unemployed and a resident of #50 Milkyway st., GSIS Subd., 74-A, Matina Crossing, Davao City, and ALAIN ROBINSON QUESADA, alias “ALLEN QUESADA”, 41 y/o, married, Liason officer, and resident of 161 Emerald Street, SM Village Bangkal, Talomo District, Davao City.

Records revealed that Cadayona was nabbed at around 4:15pm yesterday, March 1, 2020 at #50 Milkyway St., GSIS Subd., 74-A Matina Crossing, Davao City. He was was caught in possession of eleven (11) sachets of suspected metamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu”, one (1) unit Shotgun with six (6) pcs 12 gauge shotgun ammunitions, drug praphernalia, and non-drug items. Confiscated drug evidences have an estimated street value of more or less Php 512,000 and weighed 32 grams. On the other hand, suspect, Quesada was arrested at 12:20 PM today, March 2, 2020 along Milkyway Street, GSIS Subdivison, Matina Crossing, Davao City.

A total of six (6) sachets of suspected shabu was recovered from him (Quesada) weighing MOL 30grams with an estimated street value of Php 480,000.

Both arrested suspects were listed under the Directorate for Intelligence Watchlist. PLtCol Lao said that the suspects were previously arrested on January 2014 for violations of Sec. 5 and 11 of R.A 9165 and were released through plea bargaining agreement last November 2018.

“It took us more than a week of monitoring and surveillance before these two operations were conducted,” he said.

He added that his unit will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt the supply of drugs in the region and will also continue to target recidivist drug offenders in the community.

“Illegal drugs are big contributor to crime in the community. While we are committed to placing drug offenders before the courts, we know that locking them up is only one element to reducing harm,” PLtCol Lao emphasized.

Furthermore, Talomo Police Station, which is one of the biggest police stations in the city, boosted its police visibility to provide reassurance to the community with the deployment of 85% of its total no. of personnel on the field. It means that the said deployed personnel will be involved and utilized in a range of community engagement initiatives, such as getting out in the community through patrols to address any concerns, gather intelligence and enforce crime.

“The presence of more uniformed men and women on the field will make criminals think twice before breaking the law and commit crimes, ” stated PLTCol Lao.

Meanwhile, early last week, Talomo Police Station Community Relations Personnel also conducted illegal drugs symposium to different schools under Talomo District to teach students as well as distribute informative materials/flyers on the harmful effects of illegal drugs and how to stay away from it.

“To tackle the harm caused by drugs in the community, I have directed my CAS and WCPD Policewomen to also work closely with the education sectors to address the pillars of drug harm, prevention, and its ill-effects,” he ended.

Suspects are now detained at the lock-up cell of this station. Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against the two.
