Be informed that at about 6:45 PM of August 10, 2020, Hon. Glean P. Padua, Punong Barangay of San Vicente reported to Katipunan Municipal Police Station (MPS) that a cadaver was accidentally found at the portion of Dicayo River situated at Barangay San Vicente, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte by Isidro Tulabing Degoro, married, backhoe driver/operator and a resident of said address.
Acted on the said report, PNP Personnel of Katipunan MPS together with Dr. Kei Ruud Piperno-Municipal Health Officer proceeded to the reported place to verify the veracity of the report. Investigation conducted disclosed that while Isidro operated the backhoe to load gravels, he noticed that the bucket of the backhoe hit something soft, and to his surprise as he lift the bucket up, he saw a human leg on the surface of the water. The lower extremities from the waist down to his feet was recovered which was cut in half accidentally as the bucket of the backhoe hit the same while the upper extremities was still missing.
The victim was identified as Rogelio Andan Andong, 38 y/o, married, farmer and a resident of Barangay Singatong, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte by the his daughter Marlyn Castillon Andong by examining the victims short pants.
Further, investigation revealed at about 3:00 PM of August 9, 2020, the victim who is intoxicated with liquor tried to cross the flooded creek located at the boundary of Purok 3 and Sitio Sibayog, all of Brgy Singatong, the victim was swept and carried away by the strong current of water and failed to return home.
The victim’s recovered remains was properly turn-over to his immediate family while search and retrieval operation for the rest of the victims body is still on going.
