Power Watch Negros Secretary-General Wennie Sancho said that he is planning to meet acting Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) general manager Atty. Danny Pondevilla this week.

Power Watch would like to raise some policy issues pertaining to the rights of the Ceneco consumers and labor concerns, Sancho said Tuesday.

Power Watch filed a complaint for alleged over-contracting of power supply before the office of President Rodrigo Duterte on Aug 5, 2016.

A follow-up letter to the complaint was sent on Oct 18, 2017, Sancho said.

On Nov 2, 2017, the Presidential Complaint Center through Director Jaime Llaguno Mabilin, forwarded the complaint to Sec. Alfonso Cusi of the Department of Energy for appropriate action.

On Jan 19, 2018, Atty. Mario Marasigan, Director 1V and officer-in-charge of the Electric Power Industry Management Bureau of DOE endorsed the complaint letter to NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong.

Sancho said that since Atty. Danny Pondevilla was appointed by NEA, Power Watch would solicit the assistance of Atty. Pondevilla, who is a NEA Project Supervisor, as to why the complaint on alleged over-contracting of power supply by CENECO remains unacted.

“The appointment of Pondevilla is a welcome development for Power Watch in as much as its advocacy is focused on making CENECO as an efficient power distribution utility that is responsive to the needs of the consumers,” Sancho said.

Sancho, who is also a labor advocate, is looking forward for a productive dialogue with the new CENECO head on labor issues and concerns.
