Police Discovered, Destroyed Marijuana Plants In Benguet

In the continuous anti-illegal drug campaign of Police Regional Office Cordillera, two marijuana plantation sites hidden in steep communal land at Sitio Bakbakan, Poblacion, and Sitio Caang, Badeo of Kibungan, Benguet, were discovered on June 11, 2021.

Joint operatives from the Benguet PPO and PROCOR Regional Intelligence Division burned a total of ₱ 342, 000.00 worth of Marijuana plants and seedlings in the two plantation sites.

In Sitio Bakbakan, Poblacion, the operatives discovered 50 pcs of fully grown marijuana plants with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱ 10, 000.00 planted on a 10 square meter lot; and 300 marijuana seedlings with an SDP of ₱ 12, 000.00.

According to Kibungan Municipal Police Station, the site was discovered thru their persistent monitoring and coordination with the barangay. In addition, it is located in a very steep site and will take four hours of walking to reach, a reason not to suspect that there is a marijuana plantation in the area.

In Sitio Caang, Badeo, the operatives discovered 1,600 Pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants worth P320,000.00 cultivated on a 200-square meter communal lot.

According to 1st Benguet PMFC, the discovery of the marijuana plantation site is the result of their diligent efforts in searching their area of responsibility for presence of illegal drugs, in line with the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO).

All marijuana plants and seedlings were uprooted and burned on-site; but no cultivator was apprehended during the operation. (PROCOR-Public Information Office)
