Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized PHP748,000 worth of suspected shabu from two suspects in separate buy-bust operations here this week.
On Tuesday night, Raniel Rivera was arrested in Barangay Bata while the night before, Carlo Boncalon was caught in Barangay 10.
Nicolas Gomez, provincial officer of PDEA-Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, said on Wednesday the operatives recovered almost the same volume and amount of shabu from the two suspects.
Rivera and Boncalon each yielded about 55 grams of the prohibited substance amounting to PHP374,000.
Gomez said both suspects are detained in local police stations and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operations were conducted by the joint special enforcement team of PDEA-Western Visayas, Negros Occidental Provincial Office, and PDEA-Central Visayas.
On Aug. 3, agents of PDEA also arrested six persons in Purok Sibucao, Barangay Banago here, in a search warrant operation which led to the recovery of 11 plastic sachets of shabu weighing about 45 grams valued at PHP306,000.
In neighboring Talisay City, a PDEA team also arrested five suspects and recovered about PHP5.4 million worth of shabu last July 25. (Nanette Guadalquiver via NDB)
