P2.8-M worth of marijuana bricks seized in Baguio City, 7 arrested

Some P2.8 million worth of marijuana dried leaves and dried marijuana Fruiting tops was confiscated from seven local tourists by police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during an operation at a Bus Terminal in Baguio City last Sunday.

PDEA-CAR Regional Director Edgar S. Apalla identified those arrested as Ariston Antonio, 18, student; Stacey Gerodiaz 18, resident of Tarlac; Daniel Bagnas Villalubos 18 from Botolan, Zambales; and four other alleged minors

The Seven local tourists boarded a bus from Bontoc, Mt. Province bound to Baguio City.

Prior to the conduct of operation, a report was received by the operating units pertaining to an alleged transportation of certain kilos of marijuana bricks these individuals with some minors that prompted the PDEA Regional Office to conduct MJ interdiction and rescue operation to the minors allegedly involved in this illegal drug trafficking activity.

Confiscated from the seven local tourists were 27 bricks of marijuana dried leaves and two dried marijuana fruiting tops in tubular form at Slaughter Bus Terminal, Brgy Sto Niño, Baguio City on July 28, 2019.

The successful operation was through the joint efforts of PDEA-CAR Mt. Province Provincial Office and Baguio City Office; PDEA- 4B Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office; BCPO Station 2; and PNP Mt. Province PDEU. All the suspects are under the custody of PDEA Regional Office CAR, La Trinidad, Benguet for proper disposition.
