Over 500K Dabawenyos In Priority List To Get Anti-Covid Vaccines

Around 537,820 Dabawenyos are now on the master list to receive the first shots in coronavirus vaccination soon to be rolled out in Davao City.

These are the individuals under the priority Group A that includes 16,677 health workers, 77,189 senior citizens,, 5,258 uniformed personnel and 432,549 indigent residents.

City Health Office (CHO) in-charge and the focal person of the Covid-19 Task Force Dr. Ashley Lopez, who presented the Covid-19 situation of Davao City before the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic KON (C.O.D.E.) Team visit at Mabini Elementary School on Tuesday said, “As of February 8, a total of 537,820 individuals have been included in the master list of Priority Group A for the vaccination.”

The number would still go up as the city government continues master listing conducted by the CHO for the health workers, Office of the Senior Citizen (OSCA), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and the uniformed personnel under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU).

Other priority groups for the vaccination include teachers, social workers, other government workers, other essential workers outside health, education, social welfare sectors, socio-demographic groups at significantly higher risk other than SCs and IPs, overseas Filipino workers, and other remaining workforce.

The city government targets to list up around 1.2 million people for the coronavirus vaccination in order to achieve herd immunity.

Lopez said that seven (7) sites have been eyed by the city government to serve as vaccination hubs – the three branches of University of Mindanao in Bolton, Guianga and Ilang, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP), and the Ateneo de Davao Matina branch.

He said that the city is also looking at the public schools as vaccination hubs.

Lopez also bared the city’s vaccination team composition for every site which consists of a supervisor (physician), registration and screening (physician/nurse/midwife/), counsellor (allied professionals, vaccinator (nurse/midwife), recording and documentation (midwife/BHW/health staff/volunteers), to which each site will have three (3) teams.

There will also be an adverse event following the immunization (AEFI) team for monitoring and surveillance. Each site will have three (3) teams.

The city government and the Department of Health (DOH) have already conducted four (4) simulation exercises for the transport and safe handling of the vaccines.
