NegOcc Donates Equipment, Supplies To Security Forces

The Negros Occidental provincial government donated food supplies and equipment to the security forces assisting in its response to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, assisted by Provincial Disaster Management Program Division chief Zeaphard Caelian, led the turn-over of donations to the officials of various units in rites held at the Provincial Administration Center in this city on Thursday.

The recipients were the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard, which form the Law and Order Group of the Provincial Incident Management Team.

The Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade received 80 sacks of rice and 30 boxes of assorted canned goods for the front-liner troops.

“We are very grateful to the support of the local chief executives as we fight against Covid-19. We will continue our mandate to support all the efforts of the local government units to win the fight against Covid-19 in the province,” said Col. Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of 303IBde.

The Bureau of Fire Protection received 24 units of Kawasaki backpack Sprayer and 20 units of Bo Hui infrared thermometer T-168 that will be distributed to the city and municipal fire stations in the province.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office was given 13 sacks of rice and 36 infrared thermometers.

The Philippine Coast Guard got 50 sacks of rice, 15 boxes of canned goods, and 10 units of infrared thermometer.

The police and military troops are being deployed to man the borders between Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental and the quarantine checkpoints all over the province.

Coast Guard personnel are in-charge of securing maritime borders during the quarantine period and also assists in the transport of returning residents to the quarantine centers.

Firefighters also took part in the packing and transport of goods and equipment for Covid-19 response in Negros Occidental. (Nanette Guadalquiver ndb via pna)
