Bacolod City – More employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government tested positive for Covid-19, majority of them assigned at the Provincial Environment and Management Office, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said recently.

Diaz said 50 virus-infected Capitol employees and their families are now being taken care of at the Mambukal Mountain Resort quarantine facility in Murcia.

They were infected, not in the workplace, but at home, and most are from Bacolod City, he said.

Diaz also reported that the vaccination program at Barangay Kapitolyo turned to be a success as many Capitol employees availed of the free inoculation.

A report of the Provincial Health Office showed that 931 Capitol employees were vaccinated, excluding those from the Philippine Army, departments of Education, and Interior and Local Government, and other government agencies.

Diaz said he instructed Capitol employees, who have yet to be vaccinated, to sign a waiver, to establish that they are refusing to be inoculated, despite the availability of the vaccines.

He said those who change their mind and want to get vaccinated may signify their intention and the brand of vaccine they would like to avail of. But he stressed that vaccinators will cater to the next in line in the priority category before them.

Diaz also said that they will be given a time frame for availing of the inoculation. The provincial government is targeting to vaccinate 70 percent of its employees.
