Measles Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MRSIA) Kick-Off In Zambo Targeting 82K Kids

The City Health Office (CHO) kicked off its Measles Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) Monday which was scheduled from October 26 to November 25, 2020.

A kickoff ceremony was conducted at barangay Pasonanca Covered Court Monday morning where the program targets to vaccinate 81,290 children nine months to below five years old regardless of the immunization status.

Dr. Fatima Virginia Alamia, City Health Office Immunization Program Coordinator told RPN DXXX Zamboanga, the first day was a success as the barangay officials and the local government unit gave their support.

The activity is being done to protect these children from Measles, Rubella and its complications.

In times of pandemic, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) the vaccination will done by purok. These areas must also have proper ventilation, frequently disinfected and with the proper physical distancing.

The health workers have their mask and face shield to protect the children and parents from the Covid virus.

Assessment on the children will be first done before giving the vaccine.

Present during the kickoff were Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco Salazar, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite, Councilor John Dalipe and staffs from the Department of Health.
