Mayor Sara Reminds Dabawenyos To Stay Home

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio cautioned the people not to go out of the city and their houses if possible, now that the observance of the general community quarantine is extended until June 15, 2020.

She said the COVID-19 cases in the city are still rising and have not reached their peak yet.

“Transmission is imminent,” Duterte-Carpio said.

She said that Davao City has an overall COVID-19 cases at 270 while currently a total of 125 cases are being treated by the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 28 lives, but a total of 117 patients have recovered.

Duterte-Carpio said that under the extended community quarantine, the use of food and medicine pass will continue but with future modification.

“We are still preparing the executive order for its future use but the FM pass will be used as the city observes an extension of the general community quarantine,” she said.

A new risk assessment of barangays is released as of May 29, 2020 as a guide for traveling and movement.

Duterte-Carpio said people need to be warned to observe precautionary measures in going to these areas because everybody now has the right to move.

She said eight barangays are determined as very high risk, seven barangays are classified high risk, nine barangays are classified high risk because of their proximity to the barangays with very high risk, 41 barangays are classified as moderate risk areas while eight barangays are classified as moderately risk areas due to its nearness to high risk areas.

Duterte-Carpio said 109 barangays remain low risk as of this time.

She also said that the Agdao Public Market will be closed indefinitely.

Duterte-Carpio said on the 32 vendors undergo health screening today and two individuals fail and have to undergo Polymerase Chain Reaction test at the SPMC for confirmation.

Under the general community quarantine extension, she also announced that the borders in the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental will open.

Based on the update of the City Traffic and Transport Management Office, the borders with the said provinces will be open but limited to one trip per destination a day only.  (PIA XI- Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
