President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr has appointed former Interior Secretary Eduardo Año as his new National Security Adviser (NSA).

In a press statement, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced that Año already took his oath of office before Marcos last Sat.

This after Marcos’ previous NSA, Professor Clarita R. Carlos, decided to transfer to the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) to pursue her “scholastic endeavors.”

“I have realized that it is no longer politic to continue as NSA to the President and so, I have decided to migrate to another agency where my expertise on foreign, defense, and security policy will be of use and I shall continue to help build a Better Philippines,” Carlos said in a separate statement.

Año was the second Cabinet official from the administration of former President Rodrigo R. Duterte, who was reappointed by Marcos to a new position, after Galvez Jr.

Galvez served as the head of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process, Reconciliation, and Unity Secretary before he was designated by Marcos as his Department of National Defense (DND) secretary.

The revamp in the Marcos cabinet comes after a reported alleged destabilization attempt in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) earlier this week.

AFP denied the existence of the said destabilization plot.
