Davao City:   The Land Transportation Office (LTO XI) has implemented a set of new protocols to deliver their services to motor vehicle users or owners in the Davao Region. This is for LTO XI to help reduce the risk of local transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) within the premises of their local offices.

The Legal Officer for LTO XI Attorney Loida Igdanes discussed the current health safety measures in place that the local offices of LTO are implementing to continue to provide their services while limiting the risk factor involved in face-to-face contact with clients and staff.

“We have updated our system of operations to prevent crowding in our offices where we are implementing online transactions, motor vehicle drive-thru registration – so these measures are how our office adapts to the realities of the new normal,’ Atty. Igdanes said.

LTO XI started the implementation of the online transactions and vehicle registration drive-thru last June 1 and this was implemented by local offices since they are one of the most frequented government offices in the region.

“The motor vehicle registration drive-thru is for utility vehicles and motorcycles who will only transact renewals and registration without any previous infractions and penalties. We have set up an area at our regional office where clients can transact with our staff without having to leave their vehicles,” Atty. Igdanes said.

With the said measures in place, LTO XI has observed that it only takes an average time of about thirty minutes per transaction – effectively reducing the time needed for vehicle registration or renewal and reducing the risk of local transmission within LTO’s office premises. (PIA XI/KPLCaro)
