Local Retail Businesses Compliant To IATF Guidelines

The Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) under the Office of the City Mayor last week reported local businesses complied with guidelines set by the City Government, Interagency Task Force (IATF), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The report comes in the heels of the city’s transition from Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to General Community Quarantine (GCQ), May 18.

During the meeting of the city’s executive officers, PLD head Allan Abayao revealed the nine section of the City Market were monitored daily.

Still on market operations, he said his office observed only stalls selling essential items operated. On the other hand, establishments selling both essential and non-essential items placed non-essentials such as toys, decors and office supplies aside.

On a general scale, the PLD head said they already advised business owners to install plastic barriers or separators in selling counters. This, to prevent spread of the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19).

He bared cellphone stalls especially those along Session road were also advised to open alternately on different schedules to comply with social distancing guidelines, while internet shops remain closed.

Restaurants outside of malls were also monitored. Abayao said owners were advised to wait for Health Services Office (HSO) for guidelines to operate.

In other developments, Abayao likewise reported business permits for food delivery and errands numbering to 276 were processed for existing establishments only.

He said, to aid in controlling movement of residents, barangay-based markets or “talipapa” are currently being assessed.

Abayao however reminded barbershops and salons are still not allowed to operate and were notified to cease operations while awaiting apt IATF guidelines.

Utility payments may now also be done through some banks, and payment centers, with Baguio citizens transacting business during their respective market day schedules, it was known.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, for his part, confirmed PLD’s findings adding, physical distancing is being observed in business establishments. PIO Baguio
