Kings edge Tigers, Bulacan prevails in PSL hoops in Davao

RENCE NOCUM and prized forward Michael Calisaan showed the way as San Juan frustrated defending champion Davao Occidental-Cocolife, 76-71, at its home court RMC Gymnasium in Davao City on Thursday night in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup.

Nocum finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Calisaan flirted with a double-double of 18 points and nine rebounds.

The win allowed the charges of coach Randy Alcantara to remain unbeaten with a 10-0 mark, including a 93-89 triumph over Manila last week.

The Tigers, coming off an 87-66 dumping of 1Munti last February 1, fell to 9-2.

In the other game, Koponang Lakan ng Bulacan clobbered the Pampanga G Lanterns, 85-68, for its fifth straight win.

Former Philippine Basketball Association player Leo Najorda shone anew for Bulacan with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Mark Pangilinan chipped in 20 points and two rebounds.

Exequil Biteng also had 12 points and five rebounds for Bulacan, which rose to 8-3 won-lost.

The G Lanterns dropped to 6-4.

Keith Agovida and Micole Sorela scored 11 points each for Davao Occidental.

Archie Concepcion paced Pampanga with 20 points and four rebounds, while Louie Sangalang and Michael Garcia got 11 and 10 points, respectively.
