The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malinao has requested the Provincial Composite Lahar Management Committee to approve its request for proper dredging and desilting of the Quinale River in the town.

Though Resolution No. 13 s. 2024, the LGU coursed its request through the Provincial Engineering Office, as requested by LGU Malinao and passed for approval by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Albay.

Said request, to be done along a portion of Purok 9 in Baranagay Estancia, was made to prevent of flash flood that caused extreme damages to residential houses, rice farms, farm-to-market roads, bridges and other infrastructure–both economic and agricultural projects in the barangay.

The MTG’s unanimous approval was solidified due to the potential dangers and damages to infrastructural and economical aspects of Barangay Estancia in case of natural calamities in the future.

Meanwhile, the committee also shared the recent updates about the establishment of monuments alongside the river/gullies of the Mayon Volcano at Masarawag and Maninila, Guinobatan, which is only awaiting for its NTP to be implemented.
