Iriga: DOH Bicol CHD highlights health programs, accomplishments at ‘Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas’

At the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City, Camarines Sur, the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD), under the direction of Dr. Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz, showcased various health program accomplishments, updates, and milestones during the 6th episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas.

The activity aimed to broaden the public’s knowledge and understanding of the department’s programs and projects under Bagong Pilipinas governance and leadership.

Dr. Albornoz has put an emphasis on the notable accomplishments and milestones of the department, its attached agencies, and hospitals, along with its mission to include the region among the healthiest by 2040.

“Magagawa natin ito sa tulong ng whole-of-government at whole-of-society approach, kung saan kayong mga partners naming at komunidad ay may malaking parte upang mas mapalaganap ang Serbisyong Salud Bikolnon,” said Dr. Albornoz in his message.

Some of the highlights were the new specialty care services offered by the DOH hospitals: 1) 1st Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy Procedure in BMC; 2) Cryotherapy in BRHMC; and 3) 1st Corneal Transplant Surgery in BRGHGMC.

Further, the resource speakers underscored the program initiatives for strengthening the eight priority health outcomes: tuberculosis/HIV, immunization, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), road safety, hypertension and diabetes, cancer, nutrition, and maternal health.

The speakers included Dr. Ronnie Gregorio B. Gigantone, Medical Center Chief II, BMC; Dr. Eric Raymon N. Raborar, Medical Center Chief II, BRHMC; Dr. Ramon C. Echano, Jr., Medical Center Chief I, BRGHGMC; and Ms. Arlene R. Reario, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, National Nutrition Council Region V. Moreover, active media partners and guests also participated during the open forum.

The said activity is a nationwide synchronous initiative by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Bicol.)
