In 1924, Apostolic Delegate Msgr. William Piani crowned the Beloved Image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. 100 years later, we commemorate that very event through a reenactment of the Canonical Coronation, led by His Grace, Most. Rev. Charles John Brown, DD, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines.
A highlight for this year’s Peñafrancia Festival and a truly historic event that is emblematic of Ina’s profound effect, not just as a Mother to us Nagueños, but to the entire Bicol Region.
Devotees have come from across the region to witness the Eucharistic Celebration and commemorative reenactment of the Canonical Coronation of our Ina. After the coronation, the Procession Triunfal was held across the streets of Naga, joined by the devout faithful in their fervent devotion to our Beloved Ina.
