Iriga: BFAR Bicol crowns New Fish Conservation Awareness Ambassadors

A vibrant event celebrating the talents, intelligence, and advocacy of BFAR Bicol employees took center stage during the Search for FishCon Ambassador and Ambassadress held on September 16, 2024, at the regional office. The competition not only showcased the beauty and grace of its candidates but also their commitment to promoting fish conservation and sustainable aquatic resource management. Through their advocacy, the participants demonstrated their dedication to safeguarding the region’s rich marine biodiversity.

Carlos Gonzales from RFTFCD/NSAP took home the title of FishCon Ambassador 2024, while Cristine Balingbing from FPSSD was crowned FishCon Ambassadress. Both winners captivated the judges and audience with their compelling advocacy for sustainable fisheries and their vision for a balanced ecosystem.

The first runners-up were Fhaisal Reyes of PFO Camarines Sur and Jessabelle B. Capistrano of RFTFCD/NSAP, while Alex Arena and Cindy Bonilla of ORD/ADMIN emerged as second runners-up

and Jose Mari delos Santos of PFO Sorsogon and Maricar Manimtim of PFO Camarines Norte, won third runners-up.

Meanwhile, Carlos Gonzales and Maricar Manimtim were awarded Best in FishCon Attire, showcasing creativity in their vibrant marine-inspired outfits.

Jessabelle B. Capistrano and Carlos Gonzales bagged the Best in Production while the Facecard award was also given to Jessabelle B. Capistrano and Fhaisal Reyes for their charm and strong on-camera presence.

The Search for FishCon Ambassador and Ambassadress aims to create a platform where employees and communities can engage and take part in promoting awareness in preserving the region’s fisheries and aquatic resources.
