HRAB Featured 3rd Edition Of Longest Baguio Longanisa

BAGUIO CITY – The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) showcased the third staging of the Longest Baguio Longanisa as a major highlights of the 15th edition of the Hotel and Restaurant Tourism (HRT) Weekend, the private sector-led crowd-drawing event in the city, on Sunday, October 6, 2019.

The 6.6-kilometer longanisa paraded by hundreds of hospitality and tourism management students from different higher education institutions in the city along Session Road before the thousands of dozens of longanisa and sold at discounted buying price.

Bondalyn C. Alabanza, proprietor of MV Alabanza Longanisa, said that they produced 15,000 dozens of Baguio longanisa and with additional 1,000 dozens of longanisa as buffer supply to be able to achieve the planned length of the longanisa.

The annual staging of the HRT Weekend is an initiative of the HRAB to spur the growth of the local tourism industry and as part of the private sector’s contribution in enticing foreign and domestic visitors to frequent the city on certain days of the year because of the unique offerings of the tourism industry stakeholders.

The MV Alabanza Longanisa proprietor stated that the third offering of the Longest Baguio Longaniza consist of more than 3,000 kilos of pork meat, more than 300 kilos of native garlic from Ilocos, 262 kilos of dried spices and over 71 liters of wet spices.

Previously, the HRAB presented the first offering of the Longest Baguio Longanisa with a total length of 3.5 kilometers followed by the second staging of the same that had a length of more than 6 kilometers both paraded along Session road, the city’s main thoroughfare.

Alabanza assured the public that the quality standards in the production of the Baguio longanisa passed the stringent monitoring of relevant government regulatory agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA and the City Health Services Office which provided the standards that must be adhered to.
