Gov. Mulls Resumption Of 5-Day Workweek At Capitol

Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he is mulling to resume the 5-day workweek at the provincial capitol following the noted decrease of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the city of Bacolod.

The provincial capitol is situated in the city.

Lacson said he will issue an Executive Order soon on the matter.

Currently, employees of the provincial government are on a 4-day workweek from Monday to Thursday.

The Negros Occidental provincial government adopted the four-day workweek arrangement since August as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Employees of offices based at the provincial capitol here were required to physically report to work only from Monday to Thursday.

Lacson attended the COVID-19 situationer in the region, in the province and the city of Bacolod during the visit of the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team headed by Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Secretary Vince Dizon at the L’Fisher Hotel last week.

Based on Bacolod City Health Office data presented to Dizon, COVID -19 cases in Bacolod decreased from an average of 50 cases daily in September to a daily average of 25 in the last two weeks of October.
