Food Relief Assistance Shared To Religious Sects

Various religious  denominations, not just Catholics and Muslims have benefited from the two series of food distribution of the Province of Davao del Norte as it continues to assist Dabaonons to survive the COVID-19 crisis.

Governor Edwin Jubahib led the distribution of food relief assistance to1,268 church pastors and workers of various religious denominations while the province also reached out to 34 Catholic parishes and 107 Islam mosques in Davao del Norte.

The sacks of rice given are in addition to the LGU’s distribution of food packs in two waves to every family with three kilos of rice and three canned goods on the first round; and five kilos of rice and five canned goods.

According to Nestor Caong, Pastor of Jesus is Lord Community, this initiative is such a “big help because even the churches are not immune to the COVID19 pandemic”.

In behalf of all the pastors, ministers, specially to the independent churches and fellowships, the JIL pastor expressed his gratitude to the governor and to the Provincial Government.

Chairman Pastor Bernardo Marzon, in behalf of over 400 independent churches in Tagum City, also expressed his deep appreciation.

“Kining iyahang gi-initiate karon nga pag-apod-apod ug mga bugas dako kaayo ni nga tabang kay kabalo ta sa sitwasyon, nanginahanglan gyod ang atong kaigsoonan (His initiative of rice distribution is such a huge help. Because of the situation we are in, our brothers are really in need.),” Marzon said.

The Chairman Pastor also urged the members of Tagum City Ministerial Fellowship to keep following the regulations and guidelines set by the LGUs, City, and Provincial Government. (Jan Vincent Leuterio/PIA XI, extracted from One DavNor Network)
