Entrapment Ops Exposes Red Dragon Investment Scheme, Recruiters Arrested In Caraga Region

Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City – -An entrapment operation was initiated by Caraga cops on an investment schemes in the region and arrested four recruiters of Red Dragon yesterday (June 1) in Bayugan City.

Police Regional Office 13 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General ROMEO M. CARAMAT JR. says that a comprehensive investigation and surveillance was launched after a several complaint was lodged to Bayugan City police.

With the helped of Agusan del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit and Regional Intelligence Division 13, personnel of Bayugan City Police Station executed the entrapment operation inside a fast food chain in Bayugan City.

“We have deployed our teams to arrest Angelyn Sag-Od Cano, female, 27, married, and a resident of P-1A, Barangay San Juan in Bayugan City; Edward Cruz Salin, 42, married, from Ira Housing in Barangay Tiniwisan, Butuan City; Danica Tizado, female, 25, single and a resident of P-15, Brgy. Doongan, Butuan City; and Roy Bomotano Celis, 23, single, and a resident of Balabad Compound, Libertad, Butuan City, persons behind Red Dragon investment scheme,” RD CARAMAT JR. said.

Meanwhile, Edwin Sag-od Saguyong, one of the identified member and recruiter of the group is at large.

Police discovered during the investigation that the group operates through phone calls and meet ups only. They promise their clients/victims with 30% increase on their allotted investments.

Operating troops confiscated from their possessions: 10 pieces of ₱ 1,000 as marked money; a Toyota Rush vehicle with plate number GAU 6181; six cellular phones; four bundles of fake money (342 pieces at ₱ 1,000 each); and genuine money worth ₱ 52,207.00 in different denominations.

Arrested persons will face charges for violation under Article 315 and 316 of the Revised Penal Code or “Syndicated Estafa”.

“This accomplishment is a strong warning to those who are conscripting in easy-money-schemes in this region. The PNP Caraga will implement full force of the law to stop any fraudulent schemes and put them behind bars” declares RD CARAMAT JR.

He also advises the public not to invest or stop investing in any investment scheme offered by Red Dragon or other fraudulent groups promising them easy and high profits.

“People who are involved in this kind of fraud are imaginative. They sound convincing and say the right thing to make you believe it’s perfectly legal when it isn’t,” the region’s top cop concluded.

Likewise, PNP Caraga announced that if there are still investments or online schemes in their area, the public can contact or report it to the nearest City/Municipal Police Stations. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
