Nine more patients who contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have recovered and got off from hospital confinement yesterday May 12 at Baguio General Hospital & Medical Center after their swab test was confirmed negative.
The Baguio General Hospital considered it as a victory day as eight of the discharged patients were health workers of the hospital.
Aside from the eight health workers an Overseas Filipino Worker also recovered from the virus.
It is the biggest number of recoveries recorded in a single day in this mountain city.
BGHMC personnel led by the Medical Center Chief Dr. Ricardo Runez Jr. held a send-off rite as a tradition for recovered patients and as a symbol of their victory over the virus.
Dr. Runez greeted and congratulated the brave graduates from the virus for having persevered despite the facts and difficulties they have faced.
The recovered patients who come out in the open and divulge their identities to help facilitate the speedy conduct of the required contact tracing of their close contacts were Dr. Elizabeth Macli-ing Solang, encoder Ana Paola Ortiz, Merril Cadag, nurse; nursing attendant Marissa Mendoza, and nurse Herwin Siong.
They along with another employee who remain under confinement were diagnosed within days of each other within the last week of April.
The recovered patients expressed their gratitude to the entire DOH – BGHMC family for taking very good care of them during their confinement.
They also thanked their families and colleagues for being supportive all the time in fighting the dreaded virus
The city of Baguio recorded a total of 31 confirmed COVID cases as of May 12 and out of the confirmed cases a total of 28 patients recovered and one perished.
At present a hospital worker and a new patient, a policeman assigned in Camp Crame are the two-remaining active COVID cases in the city. – JBM with PIO Baguio reports
