District Engineer Abraham C. Villareal of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Bacolod City District Engineering Office, along with Maintenance chief, Engr. Alejo T. Germinal visited Brgy. 16 in Bacolod to discuss with the barangay officials and residents the issue on obstructions along the roads, and to check the flow of traffic and pedestrians in the area.
During the meeting, Brgy. Kagawad Jude Alson said that three fire incidents broke out in the area recently, wherein fire trucks were unable to penetrate due to several motorcycles and bicycles parked along the roads, hence aggravating the fire damage.
In addition, Brgy. Captain Erwin Arila said that they have informed the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) about the incident, which the latter suggested to conduct a public hearing to discuss with residents possible remedies in case similar incident occurs.
One of the remedies initially discussed was a relocated parking space, and Brgy. Captain Arila said they will request the City Government to donate a lot for parking area of motorcycles and bicycles, thus traffic and illegal obstructions along the roads of Brgy. 16 would be lessened.*(NDB/dpwhr6/rpaio)
