Hon. Mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy with Mayors from San Jose: Hon. Mayor Mario O. Salvador and Naga: Hon. Mayor Nelson Legacion participated in the Leadership Circle for Mayors for The Challenge Initiative program in Makati City.
Mayor Darel was commended along with the two mayors for his leadership acts and efforts for making Dipolog City an adolescent and youth-friendly city. Mayor Darel shared success stories of Dipolog City in reducing teenage pregnancy. From 2018, adolescent births were 548, 2019: 420, 2020: 348: 2021: 248 and  currently in 2022: 172.
Mayor Uy has committed to have all Barangay Health Stations be adolescent-friendly health facilities Level 2 and our LGU Teen Center be adolescent-friendly health facility level 3, and to have 15 School-Based Teen Centers reactivated.
Mayor Darel also encouraged the city leadership team in attendance and all stakeholders and community leaders to conduct meaningful youth engagement activities on adolescent health development for the youth.
The Challenge Initiative Program is a program in partnership with Zuellig Family Foundation, Commission on Population, Johns Hopkins Bloomber School of Public Health, Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, Department of Health and LGU Dipolog.
