DepEd Davao De Oro Reviews 45 Schools Applying For Renewal

The Department of Education in Davao de Oro is currently reviewing a total of 45 applications for renewal of courses of private schools offering elementary to senior high school.

In the records of Deped Davao de Oro, there are 22 applications for renewal of government permit to operate for elementary, one for junior high school, and 22 for senior high school.

Schools division superintendent Eufemia Gamutin of DepEd Davao de Oro also disclosed that there are schools that have government recognitions for elementary and junior high school.

Gamutin added that on their record, there are 15 schools with recognition for elementary and 12 for junior high school.

In the renewal process, the superintendent said that among the requirements is the school’s compliance to K to 12 curriculum implementation policies and guidelines.

Meanwhile, Jenelito Atillo, information officer of Deped Region XI, bared during the One Davao on COVID-19 virtual presser that around 800 private schools in the region are on permit basis, meaning they are renewing their permits yearly.

Earlier this month, Deped has announced that the opening of schools for School Year 2020-2021 will be on August 24.

The enrollment period for the said school year will be on June 1-30, 2020, Atillo said. (PIA XI, Michael Uy)
