DCPO Issues 1,320 Travel Authority Documents

Davao City: The Davao City Police has issued a total of 1,320 copies of travel authority for persons who want to go out of Davao Region since the one-stop shop was set up at the police headquarters.

Police Colonel Kirby John Kraft, director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) told the Davao City Disaster Radio that the one-stop-shop was set up on June 8, 2020 on the orders of Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to ensure the safe travel of people going out of Davao Region going to the National Capital Region, Regions IX, X, XII, and XIII.

The travel authority is shown by passengers on the police and military checkpoints along the way towards their respective destinations as required by local government units outside Davao Region on the basis of the guideline issued by the national  Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging and Remerging Infectious Diseases.

In coming to Davao City, travel order is no longer required as long as passengers undergo health screening at the border checkpoints and at the Davao International Airport.

Kraft said the one-stop shop is composed of personnel from the City Health Office who will issue the medical certificate which is a requirement in getting travel authority which is issued by the police.

He also revealed that starting June 11, 2020, all station commanders can already issue a travel authority, including the DCPO, consequently decongesting the people in the area.

Kraft said travel authority can be secured eventually at the nearest police station, provided a barangay and medical certificates are presented by the person needing it.

“You must secure first a barangay certificate from the barangay government where you are staying, then a medical certificate from the City Health Office.  These two certificates are requirements for you to present to the police, before a travel authority will be issued,” he said.

Kraft revealed they are still collating the data comparing the crime statistics in the city from enhanced community quarantine to general community quarantine which is extended until June 15, 2020.

He noted a reduction in the commission of the eight focused crimes by 50 percent as the city shifted from ECQ to GCQ.

Kraft cited the need to intensify their law enforcement functions following the information vagrancy and illegal drug operation continue despite the quarantine.

He urged the public not to patronize people asking alms since aside from the violation of anti-vagrancy law, these people are also potential COVID-19 carriers.

Kraft said illegal-drug operations still go consequently intensifying also their operations against the vice.  (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
